FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Wolfe Ranch of Quakerdale
Launches Shoe Collection Drive

Shoe donations will also support micro-enterprises in developing nations and reduce what goes into landfills

[Marshalltown, IA]: Wolfe Ranch of Quakerdale in conjunction with Quakerdale Family Services is conducting a shoe drive from June 1 through July 31, 2021.   Wolfe Ranch will earn funds based on the total weight of the shoes collected as Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated footwear.  Those dollars will benefit the Ranch. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used or new shoes at the following locations:

  • Wolfe Ranch (2932 240th Street, Marshalltown IA)
  • Camp Quaker Heights (22605 V Avenue, Eldora)
  • Bangor Liberty Friends (1260 Hopkins Avenue B, Union)
  • West Branch Friends (116 Downey Street, West Branch)
  • College Avenue Friends (912 N C Street, Oskaloosa)
  • Honey Creek/New Providence Friends (604 Cherry Drive, New Providence)
  • Lynnville Friends (503 East Street, Lynnville)
  • Mitchell Family Funeral Home (1209 Iowa Avenue W, Marshalltown)
  • Great Western Bank (11 N 1st Ave, Marshalltown)
  • Marshall County Community Services (101 E Main Street, Marshalltown)
  • Marla’s Headliner Salon and Gifts (118 W Main Street, Marshalltown)
  • Hellberg’s Jewelers (13 W Main St, Marshalltown)
  • Pregnancy Center of Central Iowa (709 1st Ave W Suite 1, Newton)

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations.  Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa. Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send her son to law school.

“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Beth Andrew, Executive Director. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us and help those less fortunate become self-sufficient.  It’s a win-win for everyone,” added Andrew.

By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to Wolfe Ranch of Quakerdale, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives.
