Job Title: Cat Lounge Intern

Location: Whiskers & Manes, Marshalltown, Iowa

Hours: Part-time, Flexible (10-20 hours per week)

Whiskers & Manes is a unique cat lounge that offers a serene and welcoming environment for cat lovers and adoptable cats alike. Partnered with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, we provide a space where people can relax, interact with cats, and even adopt their new furry friends. Our mission is to increase cat adoptions, provide a therapeutic experience for visitors, and create a community around our love for animals.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate intern to join our team at Whiskers & Manes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about animal welfare, looking to gain hands-on experience in a cat-centric environment, and eager to contribute to the success of our lounge.

Key Responsibilities:

- Animal Care: Assist in the daily care and well-being of our resident cats, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health and behavior.

- Guest Services: Welcome visitors, provide information about our cats, and ensure a positive experience for all guests.

- Adoption Support: Assist with the adoption process, including educating potential adopters, processing paperwork, and helping to match cats with their new families.

- Social Media & Marketing: Support our social media efforts by capturing photos/videos of our cats, brainstorming content ideas, and helping to manage our online presence.

- Event Assistance: Help organize and execute events, such as adoption events, fundraisers, and community outreach programs.

- Facility Maintenance: Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the lounge to ensure a tidy and welcoming environment.

- Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks, such as updating records, managing inventory, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

- Passion for animal welfare and a love for cats.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the duration of the internship.

- Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) is a plus.

- Previous experience with animals or in a customer service role is preferred but not required.

- Must be at least 18 years old.
